The Explore! School is a project located in the Cayce Homes community of Nashville, TN. The project aims to improve access to education in one of the area’s poorest communities. The P3 project includes Atwater, Metropolitan Development Housing Authority (MDHA) of Davidson County, and the Martha O’Bryan Center (a 501(c)3). Atwater secured an $18 million source loan and $29 million in New Markets Tax Credits for the project.
The school has 87,000 square feet of classroom space that serves 900 students annually from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds. The school is a crucial first step to the $300MM Envision Cayce Project. Envision Cayce will replace 900 Section 9 low-income homes with approximately 2,700 mixed income residences. All 900 of the original low-income families will remain at Cayce without displacement.
