The Team

Alberto Lemus founded Atwater with a vision rooted in both professional excellence and personal purpose. Originally from San Diego, CA, Alberto’s journey reflects a commitment to building communities, creating opportunity, and expanding access to capital.

With more than 25 years of experience spanning real estate, public-private partnerships, and New Markets Tax Credits, Mr. Lemus brings a rare blend of technical expertise and mission-driven leadership. As Managing Partner, he leads Atwater’s work at the intersection of real estate value-creation, infrastructure, and community impact.

Before founding Atwater, Alberto served as Senior Vice President at Lowe Enterprises, a national real estate firm with $28 billion in assets. During his tenure, he co-led the fundraising of $150 million in private equity through the Lowe California Community Fund, spearheaded complex development projects totaling $250 million, and established the firm’s New Markets Tax Credit initiative.

Mr. Lemus has dedicated his community service to mentorship and education. He served as a Regent for the University of California from 2013-2016, contributing to the Infrastructure and Investment subcommittees. He has served as President of the UCLA Alumni Association Board, Board Member of the UCLA Foundation, LA Family Housing, and for Goodwill of Southern California.

Alberto earned his B.A. from UCLA and his M.B.A. from Stanford University.
